Soapstone—known locally as ‘rahi pathar’—has been worked in Agra for generations. Soft enough to carve, yet strong enough to hold detail, it allows for intricate patterns to emerge with time and skill.

Artisans use chisels to cut through the surface, creating jali work, incense holders, small monuments, and everyday objects. The detailing often echoes the stonework seen in Mughal architecture—fine, balanced, and deliberate.

The process is patient. Each piece is shaped gradually, with small cuts building into something complete.

Sustainably sourced and entirely made by hand, it carries both material and memory.
