Bandhani is created by tying thousands of tiny knots across the fabric before dyeing. Each knot resists colour, forming patterns that only emerge once the threads are opened.

The process is detailed and time-intensive. Placement, tension, and sequence all matter—shaping everything from simple dots to more complex layouts.

Practiced across Gujarat and Rajasthan, the colours often carry meaning—reds for celebrations, yellows for auspicious occasions.

Done on cotton, silk, or georgette, these pieces are worn as sarees, stoles, and everyday textiles.

Precise in making, but never exactly the same twice.
